Delegates Breaking Stance

June 19, 2017

On 19 June ; Monday during the steering debate , heated and intensive arguments were started by a delegate who raised a question on why the delegates representing racial and religious matters were contradicting themselves by thinking that censorship is creating a negative impact on the community.

There have been many contradicting opinions and thoughts between delegates with such opinions. For example , the delegate of the association of Muslim professionals believed that people should be educated so that they can  speak up for themselves and feels that the government should only step in when needed on a case by case basis.

Having stated this, this delegate is clearly contradicting himself. This is because by representing the Muslim professionals , he should be for censorship due to the recent spate of hate speech that has been directed towards the Muslim community which has also been causing racial instability .

Another example of a delegate contradicting her own stand in council is the Delegate of Faith Community Baptist Church as during the debate , this delegate strongly believed that  Censorship Should be more transparent and refined .

The Christians no doubt have a fair share of ethnic discrimination, so why Is it that the Delegate of Faith Community Baptist Church not supporting censorship? After all, it is only due to the lack of censorship that the Christian community has been discriminated by Amos Yee.
