On 20 June 2017 ; Tuesday , delegates started the day off strong by having heated arguments on the pros and cons of the Ethnic Integration Policy (EIP) that was introduced into the Singaporean community.
The EIP has been said to be discriminating against the different races and ethnic groups as it makes these individuals feel as though they were unfairly marginalised due to their race . “ It isn't up to a person’s choice to choose what race he or she is born in so why is the government subjecting these individuals into a box? ” stated one delegate.
The council was also surprised with an abrupt visit from Ms Amy Cheong where she strongly demonstrated the negative effects of EIP by voicing out her thoughts on how she were unfairly treated. She stated that she wasn't even allowed to voice out her true opinions on the other races and cultural acts, and had been harshly bashed by the community and even lost her job when she brought her opinions of displeasure to Twitter.
